Close your eyes and allow yourself to take in the Root Cellar. What do you smell? Originally built into the bluff with concrete to act as a natural refrigeration system, this building was used to store roots, vegetables, flowers, and just about everything! For the past three years, Horseshoe Bay Farms has even used this building to house our beautiful Dahlia flowers in the wintertime. Throughout the summer of 2022, we had over 900 Dahlias in bloom!
Next is the diorama of Horseshoe Bay Farms. It is our understanding that roughly 850 farming acres was owned here at one time! Where you are standing now and where the historic Horseshoe Bay Farms sits today, was considered Farm 1 with the dairy producing portion of the farm. Above the bluff, with a grand total of 8,000 fruit trees, is where Farm 2 produced varieties of apples, cherries, and more!
